Your Task

Each project team is asked to plan and prepare a contextual inquiry (CI). The contextual inquiry should be started on 5th of May (or 12th of May t the latest).

Here is what you should consider when planning the CI:

  • Goals & objectives of the CI: What exactly do you want to know? How do you make sure you will learn about this?
  • Who are the target users?
  • Can you contact them and recruit some of them for your CI? How many do you need?
  • What is the work or the activity you want to support with your project?
  • Where and when does this activity occur. How and when can it be observed/investigated?
  • Which roles, jobs, tasks should be investigated?
  • Which methods or techniques do you want to use to collect data (interview, observation, logfiles, video/audio footage, survey, etc.)?
  • What material do you need (e.g. interview guidelines, observation protocol, etc.)?
  • How long will it take?
  • How do you record your observations / interviews ? What do you need to do that?
